Happy Labor Day from DrunkLab

DrunkLab Labor Day greeting to America's trucking community, with a blue semi truck, a cartoon captain, a bear with a clipboard, and a pigeon in a safety vest.

Happy Labor Day!

We hope you all had the chance to take it easy this weekend. Unfortunately, we know that may not be the case for a lot of you. For some, it was another day of waiting for a load or hauling one.

A big thanks to all of you working during the holiday.

While trucking means a lot of waiting for a job that requires you to be moving, you can easily lose hours waiting at a loading dock. As a result, getting home for dinner may not even be an option as you make the call again to let your family know that you will miss dinner, yet again.

Being parked doesn’t automatically mean you are off the clock either. For owner-operators, that means more paperwork, bills, and more work to be done on the truck.

Also, thanks to the mechanics who get trucks back on the road, the dispatchers and fleet managers who deal with last minute constraints to the original plans, and of course, the drivers.

This goes out to the family members, as well. Your plans change too, sometimes along with everyone else’s at home. And of course, it’s never easy to spend the beginning of your holiday without someone you hoped would be there.

Here’s to hoping you’ll get the time together soon, if not today.

Enjoy the time off if you have it. Eat a good meal and take a break from things that can wait. For those who are still on the road, hope you get unloaded quickly and that your trip home is easy.

Take care out there.
