Emissions Systems

What is EGR Delete?

How an EGR Delete Works

Deleting an EGR means reprogramming the Electronic Control Module (ECM) so the EGR system is completely turned off. The EGR system is designed to reduce emissions by sending a portion of exhaust gas back into the intake of the engine. Because this process is done over and over, carbon builds up, air flow becomes restricted, engine inefficiency increases, and components of the EGR system wear out sooner than they should.

Once the EGR system is turned off in the ECM, exhaust gas is not re-routed to the intake which means the engine can perform with a high level of clean air and combustion can be better controlled. Because of this, the engine can be more reliable, and maintenance issues that would normally be caused by the EGR valve, cooler and other components are reduced.
