Applicability

Deletion of the EGR system is available on trucks with Detroit Diesel S60 and MBE engines.

When is the service needed?

Ongoing repairs to EGR components can quickly become one of the biggest expenses in keeping a truck on the road. A stuck or failing EGR valve is behind many of the most frustrating issues — derates, power loss, poor fuel economy and unexpected downtime.

The system can be permanently removed through professional ECU reprogramming, cutting out the failure point before it turns into a repair bill. Whether you're already dealing with problems or simply want to avoid them down the road, this is a straightforward way to lower long-term maintenance costs and keep the truck running on your schedule.

After the tune, you're no longer dealing with sensor faults, carbon buildup or performance loss from exhaust gas recirculation — just a more reliable truck that does what it's supposed to.

Guides & Instructions

Tuning results

  • No EGR — related fault codes
  • No derates
  • FREE HP upgrade to the maximum manufacturer-approved setting for your engine configuration
  • No unrelated parameters will be changed

Required hardware changes after tuning

Failure to complete these steps may result in fault codes, reduced performance, or engine damage.

  • Unplug all EGR system sensors
  • Physically block the EGR flow (install block-off plates or equivalent)

Warranty Terms and Conditions

This service is covered by the D3LW™ Program — DrunkLab Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Warranty cases are resolved in priority order. The policy is “fix or return,” which means a full refund if it is impossible to fix the problem immediately.

Warranty cases are:

  • EGR — related fault code appears during truck usage period
  • EGR — related message is shown on the display
  • Torque derate caused by DPF/EGR/VGT fault codes

Non — warranty cases are:

  • ECU replacement (different ECU serial numbers detected than those stored into database during reprogramming)
  • Software update campaign performed (OEM software detected)
  • Copyright violation — tampering, cracking, or readout attempts detected (different fingerprint stored in the ECU)

Additional Information

It’s a software modification in the ECU of the Detroit Diesel engine that turns off the EGR system logic. In simple terms, it removes one of the biggest sources of soot buildup and recurring emissions-related problems on these engines.

This service is for Detroit Diesel engines with DDEC IV and DDEC V control systems — basically trucks from 2003 and newer. The goal is to disable the EGR control in the ECU to improve reliability and get rid of the typical headaches that appear as these engines age.

These engines are known for being tough and long-lasting, but the EGR system often becomes their weak spot over time. Carbon buildup starts clogging things up, valves begin to stick, and you end up with rough idle, fault codes, higher exhaust temperatures, and inconsistent performance under load.

Once we disable the EGR logic in the ECU, the engine no longer has to constantly adjust for emissions feedback. Airflow becomes cleaner and more consistent, there are fewer interruptions, and the truck feels more predictable to drive. A lot of operators say the engine just feels “less busy” and smoother after the delete.

This isn’t a generic file we slap on every truck. The ECU programming is specifically matched to the DDEC IV/V platform to keep the engine running safely while removing the unnecessary emissions restrictions. We also add performance tuning for more power.

Key Benefits:

  • Reduces EGR-related carbon buildup and failures
  • Helps eliminate common emissions-related fault codes
  • Improves engine stability under load
  • Simplifies the overall engine system
  • Increases long-term reliability
